The fractionated carbon dioxide laser (QuadraLASE) is an exciting new laser that combines the efficacy of the old non-fractionated devices while minimizing the down time and side effects. Fractional skin resurfacing is a deeper treatment than the Fraxel:restore. While treatment with this laser produces more dramatic results than the fraxel, it is associated with a week of "down time". Patients typically have red, swollen skin for 5-7 days after the procedure and should strictly avoid sun exposure for the first month after treatment.
